The FIFA Women’s World Cup is here on FOX and the FOX Sports App, folks. And next month will be a fun ride for fans and bettors.
Part of the excitement is that the world will be watching to see if the USWNT can make history by winning the tournament for the third time in a row. Currently, they are all favorites to win it at +240.
Although the United States of America is at the top of the list, many countries are not far behind. England (+430), Spain (+550) and even Germany (+750) have odds that would suggest they could take the trophy in August.
Even if you don’t think the United States can win it all, there are other fun ways to show your support and pocket some cash in the process. Let’s dive into my four fun ways to bet on the United States in the World Cup.
Golden Boot winner
Yes, Alex Morgan is your favorite, but that’s for a reason. Injuries up front for Team USA have left Morgan as the only true hitter, so expect her to take the majority of the minutes.
She may wear down during the losing rounds, but she will be able to score enough goals in the first three games to be in the mix anyway.
USWNT vs. Vietnam
There is some buzz surrounding Vietnam’s first World Cup appearance after they took on powerhouse Germany before losing 2-1 on June 24.
Still, this feels like a 16-seed in the NCAA Tournament going up against No. 1-seed Goliath.
USWNT to reach the semifinals
Don’t love the juice you have to lay here, but the path to the semifinals is relatively simple for the women of the United States.
The Round of 16 match (vs. the second place from Group G) could be difficult if it is against the dangerous Sweden. Fortunately, Sweden is -370 to win the group, and the USWNT should be able to handle Italy (or Argentina).
Their quarterfinal matchup would likely be against Norway, Spain or Japan, with the USA favoring all three teams.
USA vs the world: What will it take to stop the USWNT at the Women’s World Cup?
This summer on FOX, it’s USA vs. the world at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup from Australia and New Zealand.
Betting on the contestants
The USWNT has made three straight finals, and a fourth is certainly within reach.
There is a lot of youth when it comes to forward depth. Trinity Rodman, Sophia Smith and Alyssa Thompson – all appearing in their first World Cup.
This team should be in the finals, although they don’t look – at least not right now – to be as great as the 2019 version of the squad.
Germany are ranked second in the world and looking to return to the finals for the first time since 2007.
The two friends split in November (each won 2-1). Germany lost to England in Euro 2022 and they have one of the strongest goalkeepers in this field in Alexandra Popp.
