Donald Trump reveals plan after claiming he would end war in Ukraine ‘in 24 hours’

Donald Trump has claimed that he is “not afraid” of his third possible indictment on criminal charges – after revealing that special prosecutor Jack Smith sent him a letter informing him that he is a “target” of a grand jury investigation into his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

The former president took to Truth Social on Tuesday morning to say he was told to report to a grand jury over the Capitol riot on January 6, which he said “almost always means Arrest and Indictment.”

The Independent after learning that the indictment could be handed down as early as this week.

Mr Trump spoke out about the possible indictment of Fox News’ Sean Hannity, admitting that “it bothers me”.

“They want to try and calm people down and scare them. But they don’t scare us because we are going to make America great again. That’s all there is to it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced criminal charges against 16 people who falsely signed affidavits declaring that Mr. Trump had won the 2020 election, as part of a national scheme to throw the results in states lost to former president Joe Biden.

Voices: The walls are closing in against Donald Trump

A former president of the United States, who took an oath to uphold the Constitution, could be immediately indicted for seeking to destroy it.

The Special Counsel of the Department of Justice, Jack Smith, has sent a target letter to Donald Trump in his investigation into the policy to cancel the 2020 election. This was confirmed by multiple news outlets citing law enforcement sources and Trump’s own unhinged Social Truth posts on Tuesday. Trump said he was given four days’ notice to testify before a D.C. Grand Jury. The view among legal experts is widespread that this means Trump is almost certainly on the verge of immediate impeachment, again. This was Trump’s third and most damning indictment to date.

In reality, this mountain of criminality would make any presidential candidate unelectable in the eyes of the public. But we are not living in that reality

Trump’s legal team is struggling to determine the scope of the potential indictment

Former President Donald Trump’s lawyers and advisers are trying to determine whether there is evidence and witnesses they don’t know about supporting special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the Trump team’s legal conversation.

The potential charges listed in the target letter suggest that the special counsel will prosecute a larger case against Trump than the former president’s staff expected, given the evidence they know. This has led to questions about whether there is evidence or evidence they don’t know about, the sources said.

Trump’s team of lawyers and advisers have tried to keep a close eye on the investigation. The former president’s political action committee has underwritten the legal costs of multiple witnesses, giving them some insight into what was shared with Smith’s team.

AOC accuses Trump of ‘campaigning to influence Congress’

Speaking at the IRS whistleblower hearing in the House of Representatives on Wednesday evening, Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said that the hearing with Hunter Biden was only taking place because of an “influence campaign” run by former president Donald Trump. She also said the committee should perhaps open an investigation into Mr Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka.

“We’re here today because Donald Trump is running an influence campaign in Congress when he’s no longer president … if this committee is going to go there, they would be willing to open investigations into the dismissal of charges against Ivanka Trump.”
