Warzone Nerfs Update New Area Upgrade Days After Adding It To The Game

Days after adding the new Temp V field upgrade Call of Duty: Warzone, Activision has now nerfed it in the latest patch for the game. It’s a big part of park upgrades Warzone gameplay, which gives operators a special strength or ability when deployed. These field upgrades are intended to be powerful tools, but Activision sometimes finds it necessary to rebalance or strengthen them for the sake of fairness.

Last week, a brand new field upgrade was introduced to the game as part of the special crossover event with the The boys. this Call of duty update added Homelander to the game, as well as other characters and cool features besides the field upgrade. Fitting the crossover with The boys, the upgrade basically gave the players a new range of superpowers. Called Temp V, this field upgrade gives one of four random powers that fit the setting of the superhero show. After about a week, however, Activision seems to have come to the conclusion that these powers were a little too prevalent on the battlefield and chose to do so by reducing Temp V’s drop rate in a patch on July 19th.

this Call of duty crossover with The boys it may be the start of a new trend, but Activision is still trying to find the right balance for its new content. While many players thought it was cool to zip around the map, zap enemies with electricity or melt them with laser vision, others were frustrated that everyone seemed to be superhuman. For some, the high rate of Temp V appearances has transformed the pitch upgrade from special treatment to the new status-quo. It only took a few days for the developers to reach the same conclusion and implement the Temp V drops.

It is not uncommon for Warzone, and online games in general, to see tweaks like this following new content releases. Back in May, a Call of duty update nerfed fan-favorite rifles, and minor changes as a regular part of the Warzone experience. Since Temperature V represents a fairly significant departure from tradition Call of duty gameplay, it makes sense that Activision would be watching closely to see how it is received and be quick to make changes for balance.

Some Call of duty players worry about the future of multiplayer, but Activision seems committed to showing that it takes its job seriously. Such a quick response to player feedback speaks to this desire. It remains to be seen how this nerf will be received, and whether it will satisfactorily address player concerns. Warzone fans will probably want to jump back in and check it out as soon as possible.
