iCarly Season 3 main cast and characters

This rebooted series finds a now 26-year-old Carly coming of age and re-establishing her web show, along with the help of some old faces, which we’ll talk about in the list below.

According to Critical+In a February 2021 press release, this revival show is “a new chapter for the most successful children’s sitcom of all time, where original cast members Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress, and Jerry Trainor join new friends to explore these characters’ modern-day lives, adventures, and comedic mishaps.”

Carly Shay: Miranda Cosgrove

It’s clear that iCarly wouldn’t be what it is without Carly herself. She is kind of the every woman; just trying to make it through her mid-20s, just like she originally tried to make it through her teens, while maintaining a popular online presence.

Miranda Cosgrove, who plays Carly, is famous for her other childhood roles, for example in Drake & Josh and School of Rock.

Freddie Benson: Nathan Kress

Freddie is Carly’s best friend, and spent most of the original show in love with her. Now a twice-divorced adult with his mother, Freddie is able to help Carly revive her web show, and it’s clear that his feelings for her haven’t completely gone away.

Freddie is played by Nathan Kress in iCarly Season 3, who also appears in Chicken Little and Into the Storm.

Spencer Shay: Jerry Trainor

Although Spencer was often considered the older brother in the original, it turns out in the revival that he is the most successful of all the returning characters. However, he still lives in the original apartment, is still very much his goofy self, and is still a surprisingly caring brother to Carly.

Spencer is played by Jerry Trainor, who has played many bit characters in other shows, most notably in Drake & Josh.

Harper Bettencourt: Laci Mosley

Harper is a new character to the show, although she is a welcome addition to the group. As Carly’s best friend and roommate, she helps push Carly to try new things. Harper also dreams of becoming a fashion stylist after her rich family lost all their money.

Laci Mosley plays Harper in iCarly Season 3, who also appears in A Black Lady Sketch Show and Lopez Vs Lopez.

Another new face for the revival is Millicent. She is Freddie’s adopted step-daughter, and she has a social media eye. So even though she sees Carly as someone who was online, she helps the team update the web show over the past decade.

Jaidyn Triplett plays Millicent in iCarly Season 3, and also acts in Black-ish and Family Reunion.

Cameos from our Disney and Nickelodeon shows never seem to get old. iCarly has had a lot of guest stars so far, but arguably the most popular are Josh Peck, of Drake & Josh fame, and Phill Lewis from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.

While it’s unlikely they’ll be returning as iconic characters, there’s no doubt they’ll be iconic and hilarious. Even the behind the scenes image posted to Peck’s Instagram are people excited about what is going on.

Sam Puckett will not be returning

While many fans are waiting for Sam to return, it is quite clear that Jenette McCurdy does not want to go back to acting, and will never be involved in the iCarly reboot. Sam’s absence is explained in the first episode of the reboot, as it is mentioned that she is “following her dreams” with a biker gang.

Describing her memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died, McCurdy explained: “[I said] ‘Miranda, I’m not rebooting. There is nothing you can say to convince me.’ She tells me that she thinks the restart could be an opportunity for all of us in the team to ‘get back there,’ maybe get other opportunities from him. But there are more important things than money. And my mental health and happiness fall under that category.”

Also, although it’s not set in stone, it seems that Gibby will also not be present in the iCarly reboot. In 2017, on the OYC Podcastactor Noah Munck revealed that he had a “strange relationship” with the franchise, due to his character being a constant “punching bag” and “philosopher’s expense”, which affected how fans of the show treated him.

He added, however, “maybe one day I’ll have a better relationship with him, and who knows, I’ll come back.” So, while it doesn’t look like Gibby will be here for Season 3, he could be a bigger part of the franchise later on.

iCarly Season 3 premieres later this year.
