Persona 3 Reload Reveals More Gameplay and In-Game Shortcuts

  • Persona 3 Reload is a complete overhaul of the original Persona 3, with quality of life improvements and features similar to Persona 5.
  • The trailer shows the gameplay of the characters and RPG battle mechanics, including scenes of Tartarus exploration, social interactions, and battles.
  • The new UI, victory screen, and rearranged music give Persona 5 a more stylish and memorable gameplay feel, adding to the excitement of an early 2024 release.

Atlus gave fans another look at Persona 3 Reload, with a short gameplay trailer showing off some of its characters and RPG battle mechanics. This remake was first announced back in June and is looking to be a complete overhaul of the original Personality 3. This will add a series of quality-of-life improvements and features that will bring it in line with Atlus’ later output, such as Personality 5. The developer was also quick to give fans a lot of details about what to expect from this remake as well.

Updates regarding the remake came in incremental chunks, with gameplay demos and interviews about the RPG remake. Atlus even said that these revelations would coincide with each full moon, about once a month. Although the July Full Moon has already come and gone, Persona 3 Reloaded received a brief appearance during China’s Bilibili “High Energy Game Fest” digital event, highlighting the fan-favorite members of the SEES party players who will be reunited.

This gameplay trailer first showed Junpei’s party, Akihiko, and the protagonist exploring Tartarus, where they first meet Fuuka Yamigishi, the eventual Navigator for SEES in Personality 3. It also shows some scenes where the player can talk to a girl outside of school, presumably as part of their social connection. The demo also features cutscenes from the game’s story, such as the introduction of Mitsuru Kirijo as she comes to the rescue of the inexperienced members in Tartarus on her bike.

The second half shows the other senior member of SEE, Akihiko Sanada, helping his juniors across the Tartarus block. From there, it transitions into a brief battle, where Akihiko summons his Persona Polydeuces, giving a quick look at the game’s redesigned UI. The trailer also ends on the game’s new victory screen, where all four party members walk away from the battle, with the one who landed the final blow being the center of the shot. Fans noticed how this screen took a more stylish way that was more memorable Personality 5‘s All-Out Attack splash splash art.

Following this trailer, Faz, a JRPG-focused YouTuber, points out how the soundtrack will likely be remastered. This can be seen in a clip from the live stream of the event, where he noted that it was an arrangement of the song “Afternoon Break”, which can be heard in the original game, which is commonly heard during Personality 3‘ social events.

Persona 3 Reloaded coming in early 2024 to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
