Amazon’s ‘Invincible’ Season 2 Finally Gets a Release Date and New Trailer

While everything is going down due to the Writers and Actors Strikes, some shows that have already been completed are pushing out over the next few months. And one of them, Invincible season 2, we have been waiting forever.

Amazon has debuted a new trailer for Invincible season 2, mainly showing off its extensive voice cast. But it also has a release date, November 3, 2023. The first season came out all the way back in April 2021, which means there will basically be two and a half years between seasons 1 and 2.

Why did it take so long for Invincible season 2 to come out? Take your pick of reasons: The Pandemic, creator Robert Kirkman’s legal issues with the alleged co-creator of Invincible, and of course the basic fact that… animation takes a very long time. Most anime fans are used to very long waits between seasons of certain shows.

The trailer is not giving much of the plot away, but we know that it is because of the multiverse, which is not trend-following, it is from the source material, and reportedly handled a lot a little better than what we have seen from the MCU recently.

Like I said, the main point of the trailer is to show off the voice cast, which already includes Steven Yeun, JK Simons, Sandra Oh and Gillian Jacobs. But in addition to the old cast, we have an insane number of new members, including (deep breath):

Sterling K. Brown, Rob Delaney, Calista Flockhart, Phil LaMarr, Luke MacFarlane, Tatiana Maslany, Scott McNairy, Jay Pharoah, Ella Purnell, Tim Robinson, Ben Schwartz, Rhea Seehorn, Lea Thompson, Paul F. Tompkins, Shantel VanSanten, Peter Cullen.

You no doubt recognize many of these names from live action or from their recordings. Some big people get into it, which is no big surprise, because of the voice cast of season 1. Probably the best part is Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime, whose character appears at the end of the trailer.

If you haven’t watched the two and a half year old Invincible season 1 yet, I highly recommend you do so before November 3rd. Yes, it’s another gory superhero show like The Boys, but just as good in many ways and yet very different and definitely its own thing. Give it a shot while the rest of us salivate for season 2, finally arriving.
