Diablo 4 patch notes – Hotfix 1.1.0 boosts Nightmare Dungeon grind

Diablo 4 patch 1.1.0 hotfix 3 have rolled out to the RPG game, and it will make your journey through Diablo 4 Nightmare Dungeons smoother than ever. After his Campfire Chat addressed the response to his nerf-heavy patch Season 1, the Diablo 4 team at Blizzard released its first planned hotfix, which makes the most common endgame content a little smoother to encourage players to tackle advanced dungeons.

This latest Diablo 4 patch changes the balance on Nightmare Dungeons, making them easier to reach the highest tiers. During the latest Season of Malignant Campfire Chat, associate game director Joe Piepiora talks about the rationale for this change, which comes ahead of planned increases in monster density as well as an all-new type of Diablo 4 endgame content coming in the future.

Talking about the most popular Diablo 4 builds, Piepiora points to the prevalence of Nightmare Dungeons as the main endgame activity as the reason why many players are focusing on loadouts designed to clear them as efficiently as possible. “The reality is that Nightmare Dungeons are way behind where they need to be, based on their role in the game.

“The 100 Dungeons Nightmare Series is extremely difficult for most players, for most classes, for most players to get through, so you have to really lean on very specific setups with access to things like near-instant cooldowns for some skills. That’s not really the point of that material.” While they’re designed to help players gain XP and level up their Diablo 4 Paragon Glyphs, Piepiora says they’re not particularly suited as an endgame chase activity, unlike Pinnacle’s ‘Uber Lilith’ boss fight.

To fix this, Nightmare Dungeons will be getting a little easier across the board – you can see examples of how this will translate in the full patch notes below, but for example, the new 100 series Nightmare Dungeon should feel just as tough as the previous 70 series.

So where does that leave players who love the challenge of pushing the hardest content? “We’re going to be looking at creating a new kind of endgame content that’s going to be more directly aimed at those types of players, and give people more things to pursue,” Piepiora concludes.

For now, at least, it should be easier for you to reach those higher levels than ever before. With buffs planned for Sorcerer durability and legendary Barbarian features in the pipeline as well, it is hoped that each class of Diablo 4 will be able to work their way to the top of the Dungeon Nightmare series without leaning on one of a specific type of construction.

Diablo 4 1.1.0 hotfix 3 patch notes – Friday July 21, 2023

Gameplay update

  • A reduction was applied to the overall monster power levels in Nightmare dungeons. The new top range for the 100 series will feel like the previous 70 series.
  • Developer Note: Although these values make it seem like the higher tiers are easier than the lower tiers, this is not the case as the monsters also benefit from being much higher than players in the higher tiers of Nightmare Dungeon.

Examples

  • Level 35: HP reduced by ~2%, damage reduced by ~1%.
  • Level 50: HP reduced by ~20%, damage reduced by ~13%.
  • Level 70: HP reduced by ~60%, damage reduced by ~54%.
  • Series 100: HP reduced by ~82%, damage reduced by ~79%.
