Twitch Streamer xQc Opens Up About Health Problem

  • xQc, one of Twitch’s top streamers, admits that his lifestyle has taken a toll on his physical health and plans to see a doctor for a long-standing shoulder issue.
  • This isn’t the first time xQc has faced health issues, as he previously had a serious double ear infection after TwitchCon.
  • Streaming for long hours can lead to physical and mental health problems, including burnout and anxiety, as seen with other popular streamers.

Streaming for long hours can physically affect those population platforms as Twitch and Kick, and xQc says he’s been ignoring a potentially serious issue for a while and plans to finally visit a doctor. The former pro-Overwatch The player is among the top streamers on any platform, easily surpassing the audience of other popular streamers like HasanAbi, Mizkif, and Valkyrae. However, he admits his lifestyle hasn’t been kind to his physical health, and gave viewers some insight into his latest issue during a recent stream.

Although Felix “xQc” Lengyel has been streaming since 2014, he went full-time on Twitch around 2020 after retiring from professional life Overwatch sight. He would quickly establish himself as one of the biggest streamers on Twitch, with streams reaching over 100,000 viewers as well as being one of the highest paid streamers on the platform. In June 2023, xQc announced that it had signed a two-year deal, reportedly worth up to $100 million, to stream on the new Stake-backed streaming platform, Kick.

In one of xQc’s recent streams, he talked about how he’s had a shoulder problem for a while and is putting off seeing a doctor. He described the issue as feeling like his shoulder would slowly slide out of place while resting, and would “click” back when he stretched or moved around, although he said it hurt when it “clicked” back into the socket. He then told his chat that he would be stopping and visiting a doctor soon, which would mean taking a short break from streaming.

This isn’t the first time xQc has suffered some sort of physical illness, with one of his more serious episodes coming in October 2022 after TwitchCon. The streamer had to be rushed to urgent care after he started bleeding from both ears as a result of a serious double ear infection. However, as with his shoulder problem, he admitted that he had not felt well in the days leading up to this incident, but still ended up going to the hospital to continue streaming.

It’s not uncommon for streamers to suffer from some sort of physical or mental health issue, and research from multiple institutions including the National Institutes of Health finds that extended streaming can cause burnout, anxiety, irregular sleep, and even blood clots. Popular streamer Pokimane is one such streamer who is on fire, saying it played a role in taking longer breaks in recent years and reducing his streaming schedule.
