Skyrim Fan Makes Impressive Painting of Whiterun

  • A Skyrim fan has painted a beautiful evening scene of Whiterun, evoking a sense of nostalgia for players’ first dragon fight and honoring the iconic city.
  • Fan recreations of Whiterun continue to amaze, with this oil painting joining the ranks of impressive fan art for the game.
  • Beyond ongoing fan art, anticipation for The Elder Scrolls 6 remains high, with speculation about its release date and possible locations in Tamriel.

A huge Skyrim fan online has shared their amazing painting of Whiterun as it appears in-game. Whiterun is one of the major cities in Skyrim, and for most players is the second place they’ll visit after the town of Riverwood. As a result, many gamers have fond memories of Whiterun.

Almost 12 years after Bethesda’s iconic RPG was first released, it’s amazing to see how Skyrim continues to inspire its incredibly dedicated community in different ways. Some choose to create in-game mods which bring the Skyrim experience into 2023, while others create props from the game in real life. Another fan recently made art imagining Skyrim‘s map as a subway system. For some though, a simple painting is a tribute enough.

Reddit user LongFineArt shared their brilliant oil painting, which shows Whiterun from a distance in what appears to be an evening scene, with the iconic silhouette of the city placed against a beautiful purple backdrop. The piece has an air of danger, with a dragon circling the city overhead. Plenty of players remember their first-ever dragon fight in Skyrim, and because of that, the painting almost invokes a sense of nostalgia about the game.

Since the game’s release, there have been some amazing fan recreations of Whiterun, and LongFineArt’s piece joins the list as one of the best. There was a Skyrim fan who made a picture of Whiterun using only MS Paint, and it’s cool to see how using a different set of tools changes the final piece. With it remaining one of the most iconic cities from the game, it will be interesting to see how fans choose to depict Whiterun going forward, and it’s great to see them still getting creative with it after all this time.

Despite the abundance of fan art still flooding in for Skyrim, that doesn’t mean that fan demand for The Elder Scrolls 6 has dampened. In fact, as it moves further from the game’s initial 2018 reveal, speculation only becomes more rampant about what the game might entail. Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently gave a clue on when The Elder Scrolls 6 will release, and it seems like it could be some time before gamers get their hands on the long-awaited sequel. With Starfield releasing soon, hopefully, that spells the beginning of more solid Elder Scrolls 6 news. The main mystery right now is about where the game will take place, and with all of Tamriel to choose from, there are some amazing options on the table.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
