  • The release date for the collaboration is planned for December or January, coinciding with a Mini Event Pass, after being rescheduled due to a collaboration with LEGO.

A new report from a prominent Fortnite leaker suggests a heavily rumored Doctor Who collaboration for the game may still be coming later. With the battle royale’s plethora of collaborations throughout different media franchises, many fans have speculated that the game may eventually cross over with the beloved British sci-fi series. These theories were seemingly confirmed when a leak from earlier this year suggested Doctor Who would indeed appear in the battle royale. Now, months later, a new update seemingly confirms the collaboration is still in the works.

The initial leaks for Fortnite‘s crossover with the time traveling escapades of the nameless Doctor revealed plenty of content expected to come with the collaboration. Early leaks suggested the Doctor Who collaboration would add multiple skins and pickaxes, as well as a unique glider and emote. Further leaks hinted at a new back bling to come with the Doctor Who event, referred to as the “Dimension Cannon.” Now, one prominent Fortnite insider is hinting at the potential release date for the collaboration.

A new update shared by Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey via fellow leaker BarbieharpFN is teasing several details about the impending Doctor Who collaboration. According to the post, the Doctor Who event is currently slated for sometime in December or January with a coinciding Mini Event Pass. The leak suggests the crossover had originally been planned for November, however it was later re-scheduled due to a collaboration with LEGO. Previous rumors have already hinted at a major upcoming project between Fortnite and LEGO, believed to be the November event.

While the new update confirms the Doctor Who collaboration with Fortnite is still planned, the post revealed one part of previous leaks would not be coming. A skin based on the 60th anniversary appearance of the Fifteenth Doctor, played by Rwandan-Scottish actor Ncuti Gatwa, has reportedly been scrapped. The Doctor Who collaboration is expected to feature portrayals of the character based on both Gatwa and the iconic David Tennant, who played both the Tenth and Fourteenth Doctors. Fortnite‘s collaboration will likely coincide with Gatwa’s debut as the character, set to premiere during the 2023 holiday season.

The upcoming Doctor Who collaboration comes as Fortnite continues to collaborate with many of pop culture’s biggest brands. The beloved battle royale recently introduced 80s sci-fi icon the Terminator to the game, based on the iconic machine played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Fortnite leaks have also teased several future collaborations coming to the game, including one with popular anime Jujutsu Kaisen. Doctor Who‘s introduction into Fortnite will see one of the United Kingdom’s most beloved and celebrated series join the battle royale.

Fortnite is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
